Overvote
An overvote occurs when a voter votes for more than the permitted number of choices for any office or question on a ballot. The voter’s choices for the race which was overvoted will not be counted, but the rest of the ballot will be counted as marked.

Scattering
Scattering is another word for write-in votes.

Undervote
An undervote occurs when a voter marks fewer than the permitted number of choices for any office or question on a ballot. The entire ballot will be counted as marked.

Follow the results for certain contests by checking the box next to the words "Follow this Contest." Click "My Tracked Contests" to view selected contests. Also, use this feature to export selected contests to Excel.

Unofficial vs. Official Results
Election results are made official after the county canvass of votes and state canvass of votes. The county canvass of votes for the November 6 general election will occur no later than Wednesday, November 14. The state canvass of votes occurs no more than 27 days following the election.

Write-In Vote
A write-in vote is a vote cast for a person whose name does not appear on the ballot.
